Award Winning Restaurant
Old Downton Lodge is a Restaurant with Rooms. Head Chef, Karl Martin, has been with us since 2014 and has won many awards notably 3 AA Rosettes since 2015 and listing in Michelin Guide since 2015. We now have 4 AA Rosettes.
His menu evolves each month. He has created a 3 course Market Menu with a choice of 3 starters, 3 mains and 3 desserts.
Dinner is served Tuesday to Saturday between 6:30pm and 8:30pm
Lunch is served Thursday to Saturday between 12:30pm and 1:30pm (Market Menu Only)
If booking for 6 or more guests on the Market Menu please note we will only be able to offer a set menu with no choice. We will of course be happy to caterer for dietary requirements with 24 hours notice

The Dining Room
The dining room is in its pomp when set out for a party of eighteen, but it is equally atmospheric when laid out with tables of two or four.
It has the feel of a grand medieval hall. In fact, it was built around the time of the Norman conquest, but do those small triangular windows suggest a more prosaic history?
Karl produces a 7 course tasting menu for which he draws inspiration from local produce when he visits the Market and from his foraging expeditions in the Herefordshire countryside. Below is our current 7 course tasting menu. We also offer a small 3 course Market Menu. The Market Menu is mainly for in house guests that wish to dine 2 or more nights.
Dinner is available on Tuesday to Saturday night only, between 6:30pm and 8:30pm.
Lunch is available on Thursday to Saturday between 12:30pm and 1:30pm. (Serving the Market Menu Only)
If you have any dietary requirements please let us know at least 24 hours before you dine, so that we can ensure it doesn’t impact on your dining experience.
The restaurant is also open to non residents so we suggest you make your reservation as soon as possible.

The present List is the fruit of our passion for fine Wine and Spirits, as well as our continuous effort to create a unique experience for the visitor of the Old Downton Lodge. We are very proud of the fact that our Wines and Spirits are supplied by the award-winning Shropshire wine merchant, Tanners Wines of Shrewsbury.
Tanners have been an independent family shipper of estate wines since 1842 and stay resolutely independent until today. Run by James Tanner, who is the fourth generation of the family to work in the company, the firm employs more than 100 people, with the majority split between its distinctive, black & white headquarters in Shrewsbury and its distribution depot in Wales.
By shipping direct from the vineyards into their own premises, they offer unique wines from predominantly family producers, who have a passion for their land, vines and produce. Tanners have won an international reputation and a loyal following among wine lovers, as well as a great number of important national awards and accolades, acknowledging the firm as one of the very best wine merchants in the UK.
